Rooted
Take the mountain we leapt from in the Soar post. Zoom in. It is full of trees and life growing from it's base and sides. I feel like after 2016, God was asking me to zoom in. Tighten the scope. In January of 2017, I chose the word rooted.
It dawned on me that I say I am deep in my faith, but I wanted to be certain that when life's storms came through I would still be standing.

Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust Him.
Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong.
~ Ephesians 3:17

I am only 4 months in to this rooting journey right now. In the process of hearing where I need to be more rooted, God is faithful to reveal things that I also need to unroot in my life.
I started with the longing to let my roots grow down into God's love more. Love is a very broad word, but I could see where God wanted my love to grow deeper for certain people and he wanted to move in and love through me. My love has limits and rules, God's love is unconditional, relentless, and always more. That's the love I wanted. Still growing here.
Next, I felt like God was whispering to me that it's not just storms and external events that make giant trees fall. It can happen slowly over time from the inside out. He called me to find areas where I was letting my thoughts and emotions rule and the things that were slowly pulling me away from depending on Him.
In a storm of desire to dig deeper into the inside me, I started to read scripture and books furiously. I wanted to seek out a true unrooting - rooting rhythm. I don't just read: I highlight, journal, and meditate on what stands out most. I am by no means able to put every word from my reading frenzy in my heart, but the ones that need to stick, are sticking.
Rooted in Love. Strong inside and out.
